The Michigan Drum Corps Scholarship Fund is happy to announce that applications for the first annual Jason Fritz Memorial Scholarship are now open! We will be accepting applications from now until June 1st.

Prior to his passing in March 2021, Jason Fritz was a pillar of the Michigan band community whose dedication to his students is still felt today. He sought to develop skills in his students that they would use all throughout their lives beyond a music ensemble. Peer leadership was especially important to him and his pedagogy, because fostering leadership abilities in young students benefits both the individual and the communities they live and work in for the rest of their lives. Equally important to him was the role student leaders play in making sure their band commits to core values of inclusivity, accountability towards one another, and personal growth.

It is based on this philosophy that the Jason Fritz Memorial Scholarship is open to all DCI drum majors. Because we are a locally-focused organization, preference will be given to those from the Michigan band community, but applications are open to drum majors from across the country.

More information on how to apply can be found on our page about the endowment and scholarship program, and our application can be found here. We look forward to hearing from all of our applicants!
